Everythings Coming Up Roses
May 29, 2009Irish Roses that is. Got the gumption up to work with my Jacobs Wool. Because there wasn’t a lot I knew that what ever I was going to make with the Jacobs Wool would be small. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see a rose in my mind when I picked up the yarn. The Pirate Hooker had an appointment yesterday and took her hook and yarn with her. (The doctor I was seeing tends to run behind quite frequently and I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t bored just sitting there.) I managed to finish the entire rose, sans button, while waiting to be seen.

An Irish Rose Would Smell As Sweet
I found the perfect button to put in the center of the Irish rose in my button collection. It reminds me of the center of a flower in a way. For a while I contemplated felting the rose then decided not to. Instead I managed to eek out three smaller flowers and felted them instead.

Flowers Flowers Flowers
These will be used as accessories on a hat or two I think. The picture doesn’t quite do the small flowers justice. I felted them slightly in a bath of almost boiling water using a chopstick to agitate the water. I then washed them in the washer. Now they are drying on the table.
I really like making the flowers and after I finished these three I started thinking about a potential design for a new project. We shall see how it goes.
