Things to do on ship voyages

April 20, 2008

This weekend was my sister’s birthday and we went to visit her. (And to give her the Victorian Lace Afghan I made for her…) To get to her place it is a three hour drive. To stave the boredom I brought my trusty hook, yarn, and The Cool Girl’s Guide to Crochet with me. I flipped through the book and found a really simple pattern for a headband. I thought it would be cool if I could give my sister and her daughter some headbands to wear. In three hours I managed to work up two complete headbands.

Here are some shots of them:

I promise that my sister was not mad when I took the picture. She just looked up at an odd angle. You can really see the pretty pattern on the band. The pattern is worked in single crochet. I made another one with half-double crochet (which I haven’t taken a picture of yet.

I really enjoyed making these and am probably going to make a ton more as the variations and possibilities are really endless in their design.
