Booty Haul

March 31, 2008

Don’t get yer knickers all twisted. I’m just recappin’ the projects for the month. I was a busy pirate to say the least. To say the most…well here it is:

  • Victorian Lace Afghan
  • Fingerless Gloves - trial run (2 pair)
  • Baby booties (of which I have yet to blog about)
  • Rachel’s Gift

The baby booties were made on a whim to try something new. I’ll be posting about them later. I’m not going to post pictures for Rachel’s gift until it is on its way to her. She occasionally stops by so I don’t want to give it away too soon.

I swear that this is the most crocheting I have done in a long time. But I have to tell ya, it feels good. I really enjoy it. I may not be the best at it, but I am getting better.

Now to learn how to balance reading, writing, crocheting, cooking and life in general.

Treasure!

March 29, 2008

I was making my morning rounds on the internets this morning. First stop is of course Ravelry. I answer a few posts and head over to the CLF to take a look at the most recent blog entry. (We’re putting a book together. Our fearless leader is inspiring!) Scrolling down my eye catches a list of links that we are currently saluting. Naturally I must take a look.

I was immediately drawn to Designing Vashti’s blog. Her writing style flows easily and she provides lots of pictures. Vashti is a member of the CGOA and a published pattern designer. (I am in awe!) So, here I was reading back entries when I stumble across an entry regarding a Baroque Tabard. My interest is of course piqued. I’ve always had a fascination with the medieval/renaissance periods and to find someone that designed a crochet pattern for a tabard is just really cool. But you know what really made my morning? To find that the pattern was available for FREE!

This pirate’s heart swelled with the knowledge that she found an awesome treasure to take with her. Needless to say I will be making this at some point. Maybe not immediately, but soon.

[edit] There is also a Rennaissance Tunic! Oh my…
