Innagural Post
February 25, 2008I’ve decided to join the many that already blog about their love of yarn and all things related to the art of yarn crafting – aka crocheting, knitting, needle point…I could go on and on. But I won’t.
I am still fairly new to crocheting even though I have been doing it on and off since I was taught by my grandmother at the age of 12. I have just recently decided that I wanted to do more than one simple stitch and one type of scarf. The blame for this can be laid squarely at the feet of springplum, a friend of mine. I have been watching her knit for close to a year now it seems. And I am not ashamed to say that I have become some what envious of her ability to knit.
I’ve knit one thing in my entire life. I think I was 11 at the time and it was for a home economics class. I created a little yellow teddy bear out of yarn using two needles. I’m not sure how I managed it, but I remember it clearly. I’m not sure why I didn’t continue knitting. I think it was because after learning to crochet I thought that crocheting was much easier to do.
There’s just something about making something wearable that feels good. I’m not sure how to explain it…wait, yes I do. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. And I don’t know anyone that doesn’t like to feel accomplished. And if it isn’t obvious, I like sharing my accomplishments.
Now that I have rambled I do believe that it is time for me to grab my hook…
